Flannery O’Connor, a master of Southern Gothic, is one of my favorite writers. Though she sadly passed away too young, the work she left behind is nuanced and rich; each word is precisely placed and holds volumes of meaning.
“A Good Man is Hard to Find” is one of her most famous stories. On an interesting note, Stephen King wrote a short story called “Slide Inn Road” loosely based on this classic. It was first published in Esquire and later added to his collection You Like It Darker.
